Ecology of avian communities in tHE COLORADO PLATEAU
At the Rio Mesa Center in southern Utah (located near Moab, UT) we are conducting a long-term study of species composition, community ecology, and population dynamics of the land bird community. This project integrates science, education, outreach, and conservation in an effort to understand and disseminate information about avian communities in the Colorado Plateau region and how they will respond to the modern conservation challenges such as Tamarisk encroachment and subsequent tamarisk defoliation by the biological control agent, the saltcedar leaf beetle.
